Walter Irvin Alexander

Walter Irvin Alexander, 78, formally from the Hudson Valley, NY, husband of Kum-ye Lee Alexander, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022.  Born in Cincinnati, OH, he was a son of the late Sanford and Dora Blair Alexander.

Walter served in the Army as a Sergeant grade E5 doing 2 tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, 2 Purple Hearts, combat infantry badge, among others.  He worked as a Correction Officer for 24 years (mainly at Wallkill Medium Security) where he was heavily involved in prison ministries. One of his favorite activities was to create Bible scavenger hunts for inmates and bring bagels as prizes, to start conversations about Jesus.  He was also involved in Kairos and Tres Dias.

In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his daughter, Dora (Dan) Jutton; and nine grandchildren, Sabrina, Danny, Nicholas, Sarah, Adrianna, Cayden, Leah, Colin, and Jocelyn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Alexander; and six siblings.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

    Dora Father, Best wishes for the deceased. I hoped to see you again someday… but it ended up like this. If I express my condolences to Dora’s family, would it be compared to Dora’s sadness… I ask my sister for comfort. Now Walter Irvin Alexander your father is nowhere to be found meeting.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I haven’t seen Walter and family in many years but still remember him as a man of God with a wonderful family.
