Jessica Leigh Martin

Jessica L. Martin, 31, of Simpsonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 21, 2026 while at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Tomball, TX, Jessica was a daughter of Roger & Linda Martin. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Simpsonville.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her twin sister, Jenna Murphy and her husband, Carter, and her brother, Chris Martin; her nieces and nephews, Joseph, Elijah, Annamarie, and Onix Murphy; her grandparents, Jack & Vicky Graves; and her beloved dog, Tony.

Jessie got her undergraduate degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in FL, her Master’s degree from Taylor University in IN and was pursuing her PHD from Baylor University in TX.

Her passion has always been in serving the youth in their pursuit of Christ and she, personally, pursued excellence in every area of her life. Jess loved to learn and master new skills whether it was cooking, playing guitar or woodworking.

The Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Calvary Baptist Church, Worship Auditorium, 3810 Grandview Dr, Simpsonville, SC 29680. The family will receive friends following the service. The service will also be live streamed on her Facebook page.

Jess was such a light to everyone around her. I knew her recently as I was journeying through my own brain tumor season. She even brought my nurses cookies after my craniotomy. She was kind and thoughtful like that. The world is a darker place without her, but I know she is celebrating in heaven.

  • Roger, Linda and family, I am Anne’s friend Pam. Although I haven’t seen you very much, I have kept up on your beautiful daughter over the years. She was a rare soul and remarkable. We should strive to have her belief and kindness…she will be missed but God has surely gained a true angel. And may God be with you family.

  • In 2016, Jessie and I were both TAs accompanying the first year Honors cohort at Taylor on a class/trip to the Bahamas. One evening, all of us were sitting around a campfire; the warm tropical breeze was absolutely perfect. Jessie had a guitar and sang “House of God, Forever” by Switchfoot, and it was such a lovely, sweet moment that has stuck with me over the past decade.
God is the Good Shepherd of His sheep. May His rod and staff comfort you in this season of loss.

  • Lifting Roger, Linda, and the whole Martin family in prayers. I remember so much joy from Jessie as I served in High School ministry and our families connected in our small group. I picture her dancing with Jesus.

Herbert and I will always treasure the memories of Jessica.
As next door neighbors; when first meeting; we could feel the love of her kind and loving spirit.
She was always ready for conversation, a helping hand or just sharing her beautiful smile.

May God wrap His arms around the family; giving them peace, strength, comfort and understanding during this time and days to come.

Roger, Linda and family!! We are so sorry for the loss of your dear daughter! Jessica was a true example of Christlikeness and a demonstration of God’s love to be in her presence. Michele and I wish you God’s best as you grieve her loss! ❤️❤️

  • Even though we only met Jessie a few times while visiting with “our grandpa,” she made quite an impression on us. She was so kind, intelligent and so sweet. Linda, you often updated me on her life. What an inspiration. Full of ambition and full of faith. Despite the distance and our busy lives, we still feel very connected to your wonderful family. We are so saddened by your loss and we extend our deepest sympathy. May Jessie’s memory, along with your faith be a comfort to you and your family during this difficult time. Much love from the Hilmers.

    Roger, Linda and Family:

So sorry for your loss! I knew Jess from her time at the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) when she worked as the program director for the Washington DC semester. She was such an amazing addition to our staff. Students loved her, and she was so gifted in building relationships and bridges with so many people within the CCCU and in the broader DC community. She had an amazing gift of making people feel comfortable in new situations. We missed her dearly when she left to pursue her doctorate at Baylor but were also so excited she could pursue her passion for learning.

We lament that her life was cut short but are thankful for the time we got to spend with her and to see how she lived out her faith in amazing ways. May God grant you the strength to get thru this difficult time. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

David and I are so sorry for your loss. Your daughter sounds like an amazing woman. It’s always so difficult to lose a daughter or a son to such a terrible disease at such a young age. Prayers for your family . David and Susan Terschluse
