Janet Henderson Carino

FamilyClemson School of NursingDuke School of NursingJanet Henderson Carino, 65 (or as she would claim “29 years old”), of Simpsonville, entered into the presence of her Savior on Thursday, April 11, 2019. She was an incredible mother who devoted her entire life to her children. She was the daughter of the late Gary Lee “Diz” and Mary Ellen Hart Henderson from Simpsonville.

Janet is survived by four children, two daughters Ellen (Caleb) Rundorff of Anderson and Rebecca Carino of Central Asia; as well as two sons, Sam and John Carino, both of Simpsonville. She also leaves behind three beautiful grandchildren, Lynlee, Lola Ann and Andy Rundorff and two precious grand-dogs, Maggie and Holo.

Janet is also survived by her step-mother, Lola Henderson of Simpsonville; her sister Kim (Reggie) Dean of Gray Court; her brother Kelly Henderson of Colorado Springs; two nephews Justin (Stephanie) Dean of Greenwood, Matt Dean of Gray Court and a niece Taylor Dean of Gray Court.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Baby Kelly Micheal and her brother Mike Henderson.

RNJanet had retired in December after working for many years as the school nurse at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville. She will be remembered as someone who loved those around her well. She was an incredibly strong woman who was a rock for all around her. She was always willing to help in any way she could and had the incredible ability to see the humor in any situation. If you spent any time with her at all, you were guaranteed to end up laughing and chances were high that she would pull you into whatever sort of wild shenanigans she was currently up to.

She was a long time member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, April 18 at 10:00am. A visitation will be held at the church following the committal at Rocky Creek Baptist Church cemetery. In honor of Janet, please feel free to wear Clemson colors as Clemson orange was her all time favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Rocky Creek Baptist Church Senior Adult Fund, 1801 Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC 29607.

Janet was a bright light. Always offering a hug, loved her kids, loved her puppies…never met a stranger. Full of mischief. Orange & purple were her colors in everything…Go Clemson! I will miss her terribly.

What a jewel of a friend Janet was to our mama, Doris Rogers. They mutually enjoyed being neighbors for decades, mama considered Janet’s kids as her surrogate kids, and Janet was the closest thing to a sister that mama ever had. Mama and we can certainly testify to Janet’s “shenanigans” she would find herself in, and mama was so blessed to be the recipient of many years of her humor, care and kindness. We are ever grateful to Janet for being such a good friend to her.
Rebecca, Ellen, John and Sam, the sadness we feel over your loss is brightened greatly in the comfort and knowledge that mama and Janet have joyfully reunited in God’s Kingdom.

Janet was a beautiful lady, always had a smile and made me feel welcome at RCBC. She took care of my daughter, Hannah, in the church nursery. I will be forever grateful for her love and care for Hannah as an infant and when Hannah went to HHS. Our prayers are with the family. Patricia Jacquette.

My sincere condolences go out to you and your family on the loss of your mother, grandmother, sister and Aunt. Even though the sting of death is hard to deal with right now for your family, the Bible gives each and every one of us the reassuring hope found at John 11:25, where Jesus promises us the resurrection which he talked about and demonstrated while he was on the earth. This scripture allows us to see that death is not permanent and that soon you will be able to see your beloved family member again. Even though Janet is asleep in death right now she is not suffering and when she wakes up she will be in perfect health, living on a fully cleansed Earth & waiting to welcome back family and friends with open arms. I hope these few words provide you with Comfort at this most difficult of times.

Janet was such a very special person. She always brightened my day and I will never forget her. I am a better person for having had Janet in my life! I can only imagine how she is entertaining God, Jesus and all of those in Heaven. My thoughts, love and prayers go to all of the Carino family.

I am speechless on the loss of such a wonderful person. I could tell from the moment I meet Nurse Carino in 1998 she was as bold of a person as I may ever meet. In the first of many shenanigans I would witness over the next few years, I fell for one of the best pranks I have ever heard of in the years since. I feel blessed to have known such a bold and loving person, I grieve deeply for her family. Nurse Carino holds a special place in my heart. From the moment we met she was truly one of my favorite people I have ever meet on earth.

I picture her making the heaven’s laugh at her favorite stories right now.

With all my love to the Carino Family,

    Pup
