James Thomas Sanders, Sr.

James Thomas Sanders, Sr., 79, of Simpsonville, husband of Edith Mehlhorn Sanders, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020.

Born in Capleville, TN, he was the son of the late Walter Thomas and Doris Howell Sanders. He grew up in Memphis, TN and raised a family in Pensacola, FL.  Mr. Sanders served our country in the U.S. Navy for more than 16 years, and was a Vietnam Veteran.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Elaine Sanders, and by a sister, Billie Christine Hurt.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, James Thomas Sanders, Jr. (Myra Louise), and Angela Marie Patterson all of Simpsonville; his grandchildren, James Thomas Sanders III (Taylor Paige), Justin Andrew Sanders, Diana Marie Patterson, and Jeffrey Nathaniel Sanders; a great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Wren Sanders; and his sister, Susan Sanders Slauson.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Simpsonville, SC.

The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will follow in the M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Dr., Anderson, SC. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenville Humane Society.

I have just that when I remember Dad, his humor, and his unique way of approaching whatever came his way.
