William Garrett Adair, Jr.

William “Billy” Garrett Adair Jr., 78, of Gray Court, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Bill and Nell Adair. Billy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was married to the love of his life, Doris Case Adair, for 52 years.

Billy is also survived by his sister Rachel Mahon. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Bill Mahon.

Billy dedicated much of his life to a long and successful career with Duke Energy. He was also a lifelong member of Green Pond Methodist Church. Billy was famous for his chicken stew, vegetable soup, and chili beans that he often shared with his family and friends. He also took great pride tending to his azalea bushes each spring. Billy will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, and deep love for his family.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Green Pond Methodist Church with Jeff Sims and Bryce Keely officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Pond Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 1:30 pm prior to the service.

Doris, Rachel, and the Adair family, My heartfelt sympathy, It is with much sadness that I am sending this note. Billy and I have known him for many years.. We have had lots of laughs together. Billy was a great guy . He had lots of friends at Duke Power, and that was where I first met him. He was a fun person and could keep you in stiches. I know that he will be missed by all that knew him.
May GOD make smooth the path before you in the days ahead, Just knowing that you will see him again can and will be a comfort to you. Will have each of you in my thoughts and prayers . RIP my friend will miss you at McDonalds

Ray Brown, Your friend in Christ
