Shirley Forrester Wooten

Shirley Forrester Wooten, 68, widow of William Earl “Billy” Wooten, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Simpsonville, she was the daughter of the late James Lawrence “T-Model” Forrester and the late Geneva Craft Forrester. Shirley taught preschool at Standing Springs Baptist Church and was an active member there. She was currently working as an office manager at FCA Packaging.

Shirley is survived by three daughters, Carrie Buchanan and husband Scott, Casey Knight and husband Mark, and Crystal Dix and husband Kevin; nine grandchildren, Kendall, Will, and Cooper Buchanan, Luke, Brady, and Kade Knight, and Camden, Kylie, and Kennedy Dix; two brothers, Jim Forrester (Vickie) and Shane Forrester; a sister, Terri Dill; and her mother-in-law, Lillian Wooten.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Simpsonville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Standing Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Michael Beeks with burial following in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Billy Wooten Scholarship Fund, c/o Standing Springs Baptist Church, 1111 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.

  • Dear Family of Shirley Wooten, I am so very sorry for your loss. Mrs. Shirley was such a sweet lady. When I would come home to SC to visit, she saw me in Church, she always made me feel back at home. I have been praying for y’all since I heard she was sick and will continue to do so.
