Condolences to the family of Sherri E. Ramey

  • Oh my dear sister, you were my first best friend, you were always so loving, how I remember you loved to watch Sammy Terry, and everytime he laughed you bury your head in coach cushion. Loved to scare someone, but hated to be scared, remember teaching how to ride your fist bike , oh was that a memory I will never forget, you lived your life like you rode your bike full speed ahead no brakes .You were the best sister, mother, grandmother, the truest of friends, you loved with all of your heart. My dear Brandi, Cole and Char, my heart breaks for you, your mom loved and her grand kids so very much. Your back with Barry, I know how you missed him and loved him so much. We will miss your beautiful smile, and laugh that brightened our day. I love you and miss so very much.

I was devastated when I learned of Sherri’s passing. All my memories of my childhood best friend and good friend well into adulthood came flooding back to mind. There’s so much to say about how complex Sherri was, how daring and loving and incredibly reckless she was in living her life free and full of adventure when we were young. I can see that 16 year old girl hanging from the side of the car sobbing as we were leaving her mom’s funeral. I rejoice at her reunion with her mom, Charlotte! Sherri loved fiercely! She adored her children and loved them with all her heart even in the mishaps of life.
She always told me motherhood felt like it was a balancing act of love and guilt. She adored them all and knew them individually. She always wanted the best for them…and then along came the grandchildren! A whole new level of adoration and affection.
Sherri was so funny, full of energy and never had a lazy bone in her body. She always teased me as a kid about being able to sleep in! She would jump on her bike, peddle for miles, babysit all day, clean a house and be ready to walk to the softball games that night. You just never forget your first best friend. I was 12 and she was 13. I carry that memory in my heart to this day.
I knew her family well. Loved them all- you’re all in my prayers. I’m so thankful both Sherri and Barry believed in the gift of eternal life and CHOSE that gift so we will see them again one day. Love to all the family❤️✝️😢

Sherri, a huge Tina Turner fan, introduced me to the song, “I Can’t Stand the Rain” by playing it at her and Barry’s new years eve party in1984. Still one of my favorite songs. When I think of Sherri and her life, opposite of Tina’s song “What’s Love Got to Do with it” Sherri’s Life: Love had Everything to do with it!
