Roger E. Moon

Our Dear husband, father, son and friend Roger Edward Moon fell asleep in death on March 24th, 2026, after a 10-month battle with cancer.

Born January 6, 1954, to Roberta and Joseph Moon. He often recounted fond childhood memories with his family which included working on the farm, fishing, family meals and simply being together, which meant the most to him. He had a special bond with each of his siblings and especially his dear mother. He would often visit as frequently as he could usually arriving with something special that would bring her a smile be it her favorite fruit, flower or food.

The most important date of his life was the day he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 15th, 1976. Ironically, he and the love of his life were baptized on this same date. A few years later on June 7th, 1980, he married the love of his life Freda Ann Moon and shortly afterwards welcomed his second favorite little person Sonia Nicole Morris. Over 40 years he provided a life full of love, spirituality, a welcoming home to anyone that stopped by. Endless conversations full of laughs & wisdom and vacations to last a lifetime. He was always known as a hard worker and put his heart into everything he did. He would often say titles do not matter and whatever you do give it your best as if it is to Jehovah. He had a love for volunteering his time in the ministry and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved warm spring and summer weather. You would often find him working in his yard and garden. He would often have so much produce he would share it with everyone leaving baskets full of various vegetables for families to pick up. His giving spirit will certainly be missed. He enjoyed the privilege of serving the congregation as an elder and assisting with various assignments throughout his spiritual life.

His secular work consisted mainly in the textile industry. He began his textile work in Seneca in the early 1970’s at Phillips fibers and in 1981 he moved he and his new bride moved to Greenville SC. Throughout the years he continued to work in textile management including the states of NC and Georgia. In recent years he worked in security at Prisma health in Easley & Greenville SC. Although all jobs come with challenges, he always kept spiritual interest first and provided for his family throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Cooley Moon (Joe), an aunt Mildred Washington, uncle’s James, Elijah, John, Henry Patterson & a loving niece Katina Michelle Moon Brown.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 45 years Freda Ann Moon; his daughter Sonia Nicole Morris (Dwayne) of Simpsonville SC; mother Roberta Moon; brother Harry Moon; sister Lorretta Miller (Alvin Miller); sister Amaryllis Moon; brother Thomas Moon ( Petecia Moon); brother Jerry Moon; and sister Renee Moon all of Seneca SC. Special aunts Geraldine Jones of Pendleton SC, Lucille Hall of Lavonia Georgia, Betty Jo Little of Central SC, Barabara Jean Fant of Simpsonville SC, and Annie Ruth Verner of Seneca SC; and host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Despite battling such an awful disease, he never wavered in his faith, always focused on the hope the bible provides for the future, encouraged others by his example and words down to his last moments always making sure his wife, daughter and family were okay and well taken care of. His presence will always be missed but his desire was for all to focus on the kingdom hope and wonderful future blessings the bible provides.

  • Certainly Roger Moon taught us how to live with him, and live accordingly to Jehovah’s standard. However he never showed us how to Live without him. Let us live with the example that Brother Moon set to Jehovah’s Glory…

Roger offered me so much timely advice from Jehovah during some of the scariest times of my life, for example during my time of sickness in the hospital. He married us in 2009. He was a special person who will be treasured and remembered fondly

I will always remember Roger & Freda (aunt) coming to pick my brother and I up for family vacations(s). I rode my first race car on a track & experienced my first fun park due to Roger and Freda’s kindred hearts devoting their time in picking us up and allowing my brother and I to accompany Sonia (cousin) on vacations. I will always remember his jokes and gentle words of encouragement. RIP Uncle Roger!
