Robert Eugene DeWitt
Robert “Bob” DeWitt, 81, of Simpsonville, SC, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by Bernadette “Bernie” Marie DeWitt, his wife of 57 years.
Born in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late Robert Boyd & Wilma Reel DeWitt. He served our country in the US Navy and later worked in Washington, DC, where he met his wife. The couple moved to Erie, PA, where they raised their 4 children and resided for many years. The family were active members of Mt. Calvary Catholic Church. Bob worked for GE Transportation and retired after more than 30 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, activities he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. He also took great pride in being a soccer coach and Cub Scout leader.
Mr. DeWitt is survived by his children, Robert DeWitt (Theresa), Debbie Wollman (Erich), Scott DeWitt, and Dawn Milbourne (Matthew); his grandchildren, Chelsea Fleming (Alex), Alex DeWitt, Nicole Milbourne, Jacob Wollman, Madison DeWitt, Zack Milbourne, Abigail DeWitt, Max DeWitt, Shane Milbourne, and Wyatt Milbourne; and his great-grandchildren, Elijah and Grayson Fleming.
Arrangements are being handled by Heritage Funeral home in Simpsonville, SC. A funeral mass will be held in Erie, PA. Those arrangements will be announced once finalized.

My sincere condolences to Bob’s family. My brother, Mark Brzezinski & I grew up on 414 Chautauqua Blvd. I had a paper route when I was 13 yrs old & he was one of my best customers! My brother was a cub scout & Mr. DeWitt was highly involved with the scouts. Fast forward decades, I bought a house on Chautauqua 2 doors from Mr. DeWitt, best neighbor ever! The stories he would tell me over the fence while I was hanging clothes on the line! It was a sad day when he moved away…I really missed our over the fence conversations. Even more a sad day when I seen he passed! He was such a great father, husband, grandfather, neighbor & especially a good friend. He will be missed very much! So sorry for your loss. ❤
We are sad to hear of the passing of Mr. DeWitt. He was such a wonderful man. All the memories come rushing back of the good old days at Mount Calvary. We are sorry we did not know of your mother’s passing. She was a wonderful woman. They are together again with the Lord. Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
