Robert Andrew Fields

Andy Fields, 54, of Greenville, died on Sunday, January 5, 2019.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of and is survived by Rudy (Trish) Fields and Treva Shook Riddle.

From a young age, to the day of his passing, Andy was famously known as “The Paint Machine” for his beautiful mastery of every aspect of his trade as a paint contractor. He worked for his family’s company, Southern Painting & Maintenance for 36 years. Beyond the accolades of his career, Andy was better known for his kind and loving heart. All that knew him, know that he had never met a stranger, and would never hesitate to go without so that others were taken care of. During his extensive involvement with 5 Point Church, Andy served in mission work; twice in Tanzania, once in Haiti, and he also made a pilgrimage to the Land of Jerusalem. He did work with the homeless, and actively helped others battling with the disease of addiction. Much like his love of service, he loved and cared for his family with same enthusiasm. He was a diligent servant of his community, his family, and his Lord and Savior.

He is also survived by one son, Wilson Fields, of Greenville; one daughter, Jessica Fields, of Piedmont; their mother, Sonya Fields; grandchildren, Aiden Fields and Keegan Hatten; one brother, David Fields and his wife, Patti, of Greenville; and one sister, Tonya Bartley, also of Greenville.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 10, 2019 starting at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 5:30 PM in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in honor of Andy to FAVOR Greenville, Attn: Mary Harris Edwards, 355 Woodruff Road Suite 303, Greenville, SC 29607.

Love and prayers to all who loved this sweet, gentle man. We have spent many wonderful times with him in our home. He came to our bible study group for a long time and was truly one of a kind. He had a kind heart and we loved him. Prayers especially for his Mother, whom we love and his children and all that he touched through his love for the Lord. He brought Aiden by a couple of times. He loved his family. He loved the Lord and he will be missed. Rest in peace, Andy. We know you are at peace now.

    Dear Fields Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. May the promise in John 5:28,29 and Acts 24:15 give you comfort during this difficult time. God the creator of life gives us the guarantee that soon he will resurrect our loved ones here on earth. Again I am so sorry for your loss.

David… 45 years ago we all played baseball on Welcome and Carolina fields. Andy always gave me a smile and treated everyone like his friend. While you and I were a bit closer, he was one I could better relate to. Life is strange that way. I know this is really late (just seen). However, I truly believe remembering should be perpetual. Bless your family and give them the strength to always remember Andy and see him again one day!
