Preston Charles Calvert, Sr.

Preston Calvert, Sr., 88, of Simpsonville, husband of Jacqueline Thackston Calvert for 66 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 while at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Greenville, Mr. Calvert was the son of the late Charles & Lillie Tucker Calvert. He was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Jackie, Mr. Calvert is survived by their daughter, Cherry (Cliff) Hollingsworth; four grandchildren, Preston (Carlee) Baynes, Hayden (Carly) Calvert, Ruston (Mackenzie) Calvert, and Christa (Noah) Frazier; one great-grandson, Clayton Baynes; and one sister, JoAnn (Andy) Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his son, Preston Charles “Chuck” Calvert, Jr; two sisters, Martha Calvert, and Sylvia Calvert; and one brother, Edward Calvert.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Lawson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Entombment in the mausoleum in Cannon Byrd Memorial Park will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: Temple Baptist Church, Building Fund, 213 W. Curtis St, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

    Just as with Chuck,
    I grew up around Preston and enjoyed many great trips to the beach each year when our Families went together.
    I will always remember the great times together.
