Otis C. Cook

Otis Claude Cook, 96, of Gray Court, SC, and loving Husband to Betty L. Cook, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Martha Franks Retirement community. Born on December 29, 1929, Otis the son of the late Harlie and Claudia Vaughan Cook.

The life of Otis was a dedication to faith to our Lord and his family. He was an inspirational leader, supportive husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.

In addition to his wife, Otis is survived by his son, Rev. Phil Cook and his wife Donna Cook; two grandsons, Stephen P. Cook and his wife Susan, Jason Cook and his wife Cortney; and three great granddaughters, Hayleigh, Sydney, and Sophia Cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert Earl Cook, Thomas Carroll Cook, and a twin brother, Wilton Talmadge Cook.

His education included Gray Court-Owings School, Clemson University, and State Justice Academy. He served his country in the Korean Conflict and Honor Guard, several Laurens County positions, Laurens County Sherrif’s Office, and to God always.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Bethabara Baptist Church; 635 Bethabara Church Rd, Cross Hill, SC 29332. The family will receive friends immediately following the ceremony.

Entombment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bethabara Baptist Church; 635 Bethabara Church Rd, Cross Hill, SC 29332.

    Aunt Betty, Phil and family, I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Otis’s passing. I have fond memories of spending time with you all as a child. My thoughts and prayers are with you during the difficult time.

    Some of my favorite memories are Miss Betty playing piano at Bethabara and getting to hug Mr. Otis before I went to the choir! He was a tremendous man and will be missed! Praying Miss Betty and family ❤️
