Karl Frederick Kakretz

Karl Frederick Kakretz, 73, of Simpsonville, husband of Marlene Kakretz, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 27, 2021. After celebrating 50 years of marriage on December 4, 2021 and a brief stay in the hospital, the Lord called both of them home within hours of each other.

Born in Elmira, NY, he was a son of the late Otto & Virginia Kakretz.

Mr. Kakretz is survived by his siblings, Frank Robinson of NY, Karen Schoonmaker (Jim) of NH, and Lori Nestor (Pat) of Greenville; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; dear friends, Selena & John Acree of Simpsonville, and Sue & John Oreilly of Charleston; and their beloved pets, Wyatt and Parker.

    Karen and Jim….. we are so saddened by the passing of Karl and Marlene. We remember fondly of seeing them at Amanda and Zachary’s wedding. What fun it was for Bill reminiscing with Karl. Much love to you and the family

      Hi. We are long ago friends of Karl and Marlene. Karl was my husband’s groomsman when we were married in 1970 in Elmira, NY. We are very sorry to hear they have passed. Can you tell us what happened?

        Hi I just found your message from months ago! I’m Karl’s sister. They got Covid end November last year. Thought it was flu, didn’t get hospital quickly enough. They passed within 3 hours of each other. We are heartbroken. Thank you for your comdolemces
