Julia Provence Lane
Julia Provence Lane passed away on July 26, 2025. She was born in Greenville and grew up on McPherson Lane. Julia was the daughter of the late Herbert Hall Provence and Gwendolyn Field Provence. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother Herbert Hall Provence, Jr., a sister-in-law Anne Foster Provence and a daughter Gwendolyn Lane Einstein.
Julia graduated from Greenville Senior High School and Furman University. She had found memories of her time at Furman and as a Furman Singer. She taught elementary school at Augusta Circle Elementary School for three years. Julia was a homemaker until 1973 when she went to work for Bigelow Sanford Carpets in the corporate office. Years later Bigelow was bought out by Fieldcrest and Julia moved to Greensboro, NC. She was a Supervisor in Pricing and Production Plans. Julia loved working with all the salespeople in both the commercial and residential divisions as well as the district offices. Julia retired and returned to Greenville in 1995 to help care for her mother. In 2009 she moved to Simpsonville to be closer to her daughter and family.
Surviving her is a son, Jack Harold Lane, Jr. of Knoxville, TN and a daughter, Patricia (Tricia) Lane ten Pas (Steve) of Fountain Inn, SC. Also, one granddaughter, Ashley Einstein Flowers, and four grandsons, Jackson Lane, Brandon Lane, Peyton Lane, and Wilson Lane ten Pas. Julia also had five great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
