John Levey Bundor

John Levey Bundor, 69, of Fountain Inn, SC, husband of Rebecca Cole Bundor, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025. John was born in Golahun, Sierra Leone, Africa, on May 30th 1956. He was a son of the late pa Musa and Esther Bundor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jacob Musa Bundor, Joseph Levey Bundor, and stepson Emmanuel Cole, as well as many siblings, nephews, and nieces. 

John spent his life being a strong part of the Sierra Leone American Deaf Community, The Adama Team Foundation, and the Sierra Leone Association of the Deaf. When he was young, he completed his Bible study in Ibadan Nigeria, then was placed in charge of the Christian Mission for the Deaf at 74 Liverpool Street, now located in Pademba road Freetown. 

John later departed from Sierra Leone to the United States of America in 1980 for his studies at Gallaudet University.

After his studies, John earned a BA at Gallaudet University and a MA at the University of New York. He then went on to become a counselor for the deaf at the Simpsonville Mental Health Clinic in Simpsonville South Carolina.

Once a former counselor for the deaf, a strong part of the deaf community, and strong part of the Christian communities he participated in, such as the Brookwood Church in Simpsonville South Carolina, he was always a people person who got along well with many others. He is left with a lot of friends and family members will dearly miss him.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in the Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. Interment will follow in Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park.

    To the extended Bundor family, our deepest sympathy and prayers are that the good Lord will grant you all the solace and the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. He is definitely in a much, much place with our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Rochele and I are express our deepest condolences to the Bundor family. We came to Gallaudet together and graduated together but we went our different ways with our professions and families. I would appreciate having the funeral service filmed so we who ae unable to attend would participate in the service from our homes or workplaces.
