Jesus “Jesse” Morillo
Jesus “Jesse” Morillo passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023, at the age of 61 surrounded by loved ones. Jesse is survived by his wife, Kelly, their two children, Gabriella (James) and Tristan, his brother, Juan (Alejandra), his mother, Delia, and his nephew, Bryan (Shelby).
Jesse was born in Havana, Cuba, to José and Delia Morillo. Jesse moved to the United States as a young child, proudly becoming a US Citizen when he turned 18. Jesse worked in a few diverse occupations, as an engineer at Underwriters Laboratory where he got paid to catch things on fire, and as an insurance agent specializing in insurance for the entertainment industry (carnivals, amusement parks, ski resorts, and entertainers). His final occupation was as a Registered Nurse, with a career spanning from traditional patient care, Home Health Administration, and case management for an insurance company.
If you ask anyone what Jesse is most proud of he would tell you that it is his marriage of 32 years, and being “Dad” to Gaby & Tristan. He could talk for hours about his children. Jesse also loved his dogs: Mamita, Cheyenne, Bruno, Alli & Harley (especially Harley). Frequent ‘life lesson’ stories over dinner, Friday movie nights, anything Disney, Smokey Mountain trips, and a cut throat game of Monopoly were frequent occurrences during family time.
Jesse had a passion for cooking and loved to have people over. Jesse had a quick wit with a great sense of humor, usually animated when telling stories, and did a fantastic Tom Jones impersonation. As a former boxer, he loved sports, especially hockey. Saturday’s found him cheering for the Southeastern University Fire, Noles, Gators, and the Clemson Tigers – yes, a house divided four ways!
Jesse truly loved the Lord and was happy to finally be going home. He spent time ready his daily devotionals and teaching his children to love the Jesus. We suspect he may have already told an off-color joke in Heaven and is getting on the naughty list.
Everyone is welcome to attend his Memorial Service to celebrate his life and visit with his family and friends. So please join us on Saturday, February 4th at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Trinity, Florida. Visitation begins at 10:00 am, with the service promptly at 11:00 am.
Jesse will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.
