    My Memories of JT Henderson

JT Henderson was one of the most competent and intelligent human beings I have ever known. I met him back in 1982 when I was working in the warehouse for Huntington and Guerry. I delivered materials to jobs at that time; JT was a foreman. It was obvious from the very first time I met him that he knew what he was doing. He was one of the best.

When there were huge electrical blow-ups at plants, JT was the man they called. He knew the electrical business inside and out. He could see the whole picture, taking a devastating event and figuring out a strategy for repairing the problems. He was one of those foremen that a plant wanted to keep as long as possible. In those days, I dealt with him either over the phone or when he would come into the shop. He always showed me respect in any situation.

But I really got to know JT after he retired. He would come into the shop and share stories of his early days at H&G when he worked in Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. Many a time he would travel with me to job sites. He loved the road less traveled and would share his knowledge of the backroads with me. Along the way he would share more of his stories, wisdom, and advice from fifty plus years of service.

Once we got to the plant, he would know just about everybody. He did not meet a stranger and was as friendly to the warehouse worker as he was to the electrician, as he was to the plant manager. This trait led to many friendships at plants all over the southeast. He told me that back in the day people would invite him into their homes for meals; they invited him on many hunting or fishing trips.

The type of human being that was JT Henderson is very rare; they just don’t come along that often. He was a competent, confident, intelligent, caring, and trustworthy man. The world will not be the same. I will miss him.
