James Mitchell Verdin

James Mitchell Verdin, known to most as “Mitch’, 64, of Taylors, husband of Terry Wielhouwer Verdin, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 11, 2020.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Jimmie & Mary Ida Verdin. Mitch was a loving husband and father who loved to fish and hunt, mostly to be out in and enjoying the creation. He was a residential builder, a visual artist, and he never met a stranger. Most of all, he loved to tell anyone and everyone about the love and salvation found in the Lord Jesus Christ, and to disciple His people in the Word of God. His kindness and loving ways will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, Terry, Mr. Verdin is survived by his children, Anna Maroney (Jason) of Powdersville, Jeremiah Verdin (Rachel) of NY, Daniel Verdin of TN, and Rebekah Wells (Taylor) of Greer; grandchildren, Ruth Verdin, Jackson Verdin, Katelyn Thompson (Kenny), and Julie Maroney; one great grand-daughter, Mia Thompson; his step-mother, Sylvia Verdin; and one brother, Randall Verdin (Cathy) of Gray Court.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Cannon Memorial Park.

Mitch Verdin was a good, humble, caring man! He showed Jesus’ love to others, and even though we haven’t seen him for many years, we feel blessed to have known him.

Mitchell was a man that loved the Lord. He was willing to help us by teaching and preaching at Hallmark Baptist Mission /New Covenant when we needed help. My heart is broken. May the Lord comfort the family. Linda Walker Drummond

Mitchell was a wonderful Christian brother, a fellow pastor and an accomplished building contractor.
He used his many gifts to serve the Lord and to make a real difference in this world. We have many pleasant memories of serving the Lord together.

Mitchell loved the Lord and exhibited it in his ministry to others. He had a real “can do” and “will do” mindset and it was joy to see him serve others. He was a wonderful example to every Christian.
