J. Ernestine Barbre

Jessie Ernestine “Barb” Knight Barbre, 87, of Fountain Inn, widow of John B. Barbre, Jr., went to be with the Lord, Monday, January 25, 2021.

Mrs. Barbre was born in Piedmont to the late John L. and Carrie Belle Luther Knight.  She was a strong lady who loved and dedicated her life to her family.  Ernestine loved watching birds and game shows.  She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Sunshine Sunday School class. 

Surviving, are five sons, Bobby Barbre and wife, Susan, Ronnie Barbre, Eddie Barbre and wife ,Patti, Tony Barbre and Gary Barbre; five grandchildren, Chad Barbre, Jason Barbre, Jennifer Shockley, Christen Russell and husband, Blake , T.J. Barbre and wife, Amanda; seven great-grandchildren, Ben Barbre, Beau Barbre, Keelin Shockley, Jayden Shockley, Ashlin Shockley, Addison Barbre and Buddy Ford; a sister-in-law, Mary Knight; and a special niece, Jeanette Gregory.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Ray Knight, Alton Knight and Wilton Knight and two sisters, Katherine Ragsdale and Hazel Fricks.

Mrs. Barbre will be available for viewing from 1:00pm-5:00pm Friday at Cannon Funeral Home.

Services will be private.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1279 S Frontage Road, Fountain Inn, SC 29644 or to Alzheimer’s Association, 123 W Antrim Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.

    Bobby, Susan, and the rest of the Barbre family, I know the heartbreak and the sadness that you al are sharing in the departing of your loved one. I remember from many years ago, when she and my mom worked together. She always had a sweet smile and loved to help anyone any way she could. A wonderful Christian woman, that is now at peace with loved one’s that have done before. May God make smooth the path before you in the days and months ahead.     Bobby, Susan, and the rest of the Barbre family. Lorraine and I send our heartfelt sympathy to each of you. We know the pain and sorrow that you do in the departing of your loved one. I remember Mrs.Barbre from long ago when she and my Mom worked together. She always had a smile and was so kind, and ready to help anyone that she could.. May God make smooth the path before you in the days and months ahead.     So sorry for your loss. Our mothers Frances Connor and Frances Thompson worked with Mrs Barbre at the Snack Bar for years. Lots of good memories Always loved running into her around town and talking about old times. Praying for your family.
