Gertrude J. Myers

Gertrude “Gert” Jean Myers, age 90, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Saturday, November, 8, 2025, in Simpsonville, SC. She was born on May 29, 1935 in Belle Vernon, PA, the daughter of the late Fausto and Mary Peters Spronatti.

Gert lived in Millcreek Twp. from July, 1968 until October, 2021, then she moved to Dunedin, FL.

She was a 1953 East H.S. graduate and a 1956 graduate of the Hamot School of Nursing.

She was employed at Hamot Medical Center as a RN. Gert was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Hamot Alumni Society, the Siebenbuerger Club, the Maennerchor Club, Welcome Wagon, and the Asbury Methodist Seniors.

She enjoyed the Erie Playhouse, the Erie Philharmonic, 5 Dons Camping Group, RV camping, Pepsi, and Hershey’s Chocolate,

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Don” E, Myers, and one brother Angelo M. Spronatti and his wife Dolores.

She is survived by her children: Donald E. Myers, Jr. (Renee) of Clearwater, FL, Richard B. Myers of Cambridge Springs, PA, and Sheryl L. Ploy (Mitchell) of Raleigh, NC., three grandchildren: Susan B. Gutowski (Gregory), Jeremy M. Myers, Owen D. Ploy and one great-grandson Gregory Gutowski, II.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506 on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 3 pm until 7 pm and are invited there on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 10 am for the Funeral Service. Interment will be held in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the UPMC Hamot Foundation in care of the Nursing Fund, 100 State Street, Suite 510, Erie, PA 16507.
