Fate Turner

Fate Turner, 96, of Simpsonville, widower of Bessie Mae Cox Turner, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, September 10, 2020. Born in Sumter, SC, he was a son of the late Graham and Annie Bartlett Turner. Shortly after his nineteenth birthday, Fate joined the U.S. Army Air Corps which later became the U.S. Air Force. He faithfully served his country for over thirty years and was involved in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam.

Fate is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Dixon of Greenwood, Charlene Campbell of Simpsonville, and step-daughter Katrina Jolley of Simpsonville; eight grandchildren, Todd Holford (Jamie), Kristen Aiken, Chuck Reid (Karleen), Chase Campbell (Lana), Randy Ardis (Tara), Susan Poole (Terry), Jennifer Curtis (Rick), and Lesley Creswell (Matthew); fourteen great grandchildren, Hannah Holford, Caitlin Burch, Kylie Booth, Thomas Booth, Emma Grace Poole, Wesley Ardis, Madison Ardis, Will Reid, Caden Campbell, Ryland Campbell, Charlotte Aiken, Dawson Aiken, Nathan Creswell, and Griffin Creswell; and one brother, Rufus Turner of Sumter.

In addition to his wife and parents, Fate was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ardis Taylor; and six sibling, Margaret Turner, Katie Anderson, Leo Turner, Larry Turner, Preston Turner, and James Turner.

A Graveside Service will be held at Greenville Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm.

    My condolences to this family and friends and my thanks to Comrade Turner for his service to our country. What an amazing service record three Wars and no telling how many conflicts. Well done Sir now take your leave and Rest in Peace you earned it.

    Katrina and Charleen, so sorry to hear of the passing of your stepfather. He was such a kind and gentle person. Thanks for your service to our country, Sir. Rest In Peace.

    Thank you for your condolences. My dad was a great man. Very gentle and kind loving dad. He is now in heaven with my mom. I miss him terribly but I know he is in heaven and no longer in pain.
