David R. Blackburn
Pastor Ron Blackburn, 81, of Simpsonville, husband of Glendean Blackburn for 61 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
Born in Belfry, KY, he was a son of the late Millard and Sally Williamson Blackburn. Pastor Blackburn was a 1971 graduate of Bob Jones University and a pastor for over 52 years.
In addition to his wife, Glendean, he is survived by one daughter, Ronda Brown and her husband, Dr. William W. Brown, Jr., of Simpsonville; two grandchildren, Davy Brown and his wife, Breanna, of Greenville, and MaryKatherine Brown of Simpsonville; one brother, Charles Blackburn and his wife, Margaret Ann, of WV; and one sister, Betty Heaton, of NV.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
A private committal service for the family will be held in the Cannon Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum prior to the service.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Cannon Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and brother. When Jesus was on Earth he demonstrated his ability to resurrect those who died. He will do so again on a global scale during his kingdom brain mentioned at Matthew 6:9 & 10. Soon the tragedy of death and sickness will be no more and peace willl fill the Earth as mentioned in psalm 37:11. May these promises from God give you peace now and real hope for the future.

I am sorry to hear that Pastor Blackburn has passed away. I always remember him standing in the hallway at CCS greeting kids as they came in. He always had a smile on his face. He will be missed but I know that he is enjoying the presence of our Lord and Savior that he spoke so much about. His family has our sincere and condolences and prayers.
Dear Glendean and Ronda: I just recently learned of the home going of your husband and father. He was our pastor when we attended Galilean Baptist in West Columbia in 1977-1979. We have lived in Greenville over 40 years now. I was saddened to hear of Pastor Blackburn’s passing for only a short time when we will be reunited. May God give you peace during this difficult time.
