Wendell, My heart aches for you and your family. Carolyn was the sweetest and nicest friend to me. I still wear a necklace she sent me several years ago. I wish I lived closer to your family so I could’ve spent more time with her. Reading the tributes and condolences clearly shows how much she was loved and respected. I will continue to pray for peace and comfort for you and your family. I know she’s in Heaven with Lonnie now. Rest In Peace Carolyn. I know you’ll be watching over your family and friends.

  • Our South Carolina Chapter 30 of The 173rd Airborne Brigade will surely miss Carolyn. Little did we know at our August 2022 meeting this would be the last time we would see Carolyn.

Carolyn came to our monthly meeting, and shared many heartfelt thanks to our US Army paratrooper group. She told me, and others, several times over the years how as a young girl she was going to marry a US Army paratrooper. And then she found Wendell. She would always smile about her finding her paratrooper when she would share her story with all of us in SC Chapter 30 in Columbia, SC.

The memorial video tribute is most special as it shows this beautiful loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and the beautiful soul that so many of us were able to cross paths with in this earthly life.

Until we meet again, our deepest condolences to Wendell and all in Carolyn’s family.

    Very Deepest Sympathy,
    Eddie Hair
    Past President, SC Chapter 30

Wendell and Family, Carolyn had a truly sweet spirit. I enjoyed the times I was able to talk with her in the grocery store. I remember that trip when we were in Myrtle Beach for some work conference for you and Fred. She and I sat in rocking chairs and talked for some time. My prayers are for you and your family as you go through this time.

Praying for Carolyn’s family, I knew Carolyn when we worked at Walmart Distribution even though I worked in Traffic Dept. and she in a different dept we would occasionally have to call each other. She was always so sweet and kind to me . God Bless her family.
