Betty Lou Bridges Landers

Betty Lou Landers, age 93, widow of the late Pierce Landers Jr., who were married for 59 years, went to be with her Lord March 8, 2022, in the presence of her family at her home in Simpsonville, SC. She was the daughter of the late Julius Buford (Slim) Bridges and Annie Mae Butler Bridges. She was born in 1928 in Greenville, SC and grew up attending Emmanuel Baptist Church, Mills Mill in Greenville before joining Temple Baptist Church after moving to Simpsonville in 1941. She retired from MacShore Classics as their bookkeeper.

She and Junior enjoyed traveling in their later years with family and friends. Her greatest treasure in life was her relationship with Jesus Christ and her family. She would always light up a room with the smile on her face and laughter on her lips. She filled the world with joy from her heart.

Surviving are her daughter Diane Fowler and a son Pierce Landers, III (Doby). Five grandchildren, Stefanie Patton, Aron Fowler, Benjamin Landers, D.J. Landers, Cody Landers, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Clyde Bridges and his wife Hazel, a sister Patsy Barbrey and her husband Preston, and a sister-in-law Faye Bridges.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce Landers, Jr., one sister Helen Smith, and three brothers, Russell Bridges, Martin Bridges, and Johnny (Rock) Bridges.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home Chapel in Fountain Inn, SC starting at 2:00 pm and a funeral service conducted by Pastor Brett Aiken will follow at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Open Arms Hospice, Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, or to a charity of one’s choice.
