Wilda Patton Pettigrew Thackston
Mrs. Wilda Patton Pettigrew Thackston, 83, of Fountain Inn, SC, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 23, 2010, at her residence. She was born June 17, 1926, Fountain Inn, SC, a daughter of the late Toy and Lillie Branyon Patton. Mrs. Thackston attended Furman University class of 1948 and retired from Bell South as a sales representative. She was a former resident of Lyman and was a member of Wellford Baptist Church where she taught the Young’s Couples Class. After moving to Fountain Inn she became a member of First Baptist Church where she continued to teach Sunday School classes
Survivors include a sister Mildred Patton Kirby of Fountain Inn; step daughters Connie Gecy of Simpsonville and Pam Riddle of Fountain Inn; grandchildren Chase, Cole, Caleb and Christopher Riddle; nephews Jeff Patton, Jay Patton and Mike Woods.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Randolph Pettigrew and second husband T. Charles Thackston; nephew John Toy Patton.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Fountain Inn, SC, with Rev Mike Bearden officiating. Interment will follow in Cannon Memorial Park, Fountain Inn, SC. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church, 206 North Weston Street, Fountain, Inn, SC 29644.
The Family will be at the home of Mike and Rose Ann Woods, 724 Gulliver St., Fountain Inn, SC.
