Thomas ‘Tom’ M. David

Thomas ‘Tom’ Michael David, age 70, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024.

Tom was born and raised in Rhode Island and lived in Massachusetts before moving to South Carolina over 30 years ago. He stayed an avid New England sports fan and could always be found cheering on the Patriots with friends at Local Cue on game days.

He worked as a loyal employee at McLane Company for over 25 years, making many teammates as friends. After retiring, he became an active volunteer at events in downtown Greenville and was a familiar friendly face to many in the community. He worked at Bon Secours Wellness Arena and Fluor Field at the West End, where his smile and positive energy was contagious with patrons and fellow employees. He will be missed by many.

Tom put his family before everything and could always be counted on to support and help his daughters in any way. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenna and Cole Scott, and Allison and Ivan Malagon; two grandsons, Crew David Scott and Noah Thomas Malagon, and sister, Deborah Whyte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Freda Thomas David, and sisters, Diane Hallal and Joan English.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home- Simpsonville at 313 N. Main St, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

To Tommy’s Dear Family, Tommy and I attended the same church when he lived in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. We were in the same Sunday school class, and he always managed to make us smile. I was so blessed to recently reconnect with Tom, and for that I will be forever grateful. Certainly, football season will not be the same without him! May the family find comfort in all of your wonderful memories. Memory eternal, dear friend.

  • Such a kind person and a wonderful neighbor here at Brookfield Townes. I will miss him. Susan Cooper

Tom was truly the nicest man I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I’ve serviced his home for pest service every three months for years and have always looked forward to our conversations. He would always ask me how my daughters were doing and he would always love talking out about his two daughters and grandchildren. He even made a point to work my daughter’s reception at the Greenville Drive stadium last November. He left the world a better place. I look forward to our conversations again some day. You will be missed my friend!
