Rhonda Rhode Stubbs
Rhonda Rhode Stubbs, 63, wife of David Derrick Stubbs, of Easley died at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Born in Walterboro, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Charles Rhode and Patricia Harmon Rhode.
Rhonda was a beacon of love and support to her family and always served others before herself. Her grace, love and beauty will live on through her children and grandchildren, as well as all the other lives she touched. Her favorite symbol was a dragonfly, which symbolizes change and transformation. A dragonfly teaches us to love life, to rejoice and have faith even amidst difficulties. The dragonfly was not only a beautiful favorite of hers but explained her heart so well.
Rhonda graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1980 and a Masters of Nursing in 2008. She married David in 1980 and shortly after the wedding began a forty-year career with the Greenville Hospital System. Rhonda faithfully served in multiple departments from pediatric ICU to geriatric care. She also served as a home health nurse, administrator, and clinical nurse specialist in the Prisma Health system. Rhonda received numerous awards and accolades including GHS Caregiver of the Year and a 2015 Palmetto Gold Nurse Award. She helped begin the Pediatric Transport Team and the Long-Term Acute Care facility at North Greenville Hospital.
Rhonda was no stranger to Buncombe Street UMC. She served alongside David as a counselor in the youth program, Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader, camp nurse for various summer programs, and was a faithful member of the Chancel and Carillon choirs.
In addition to her mother and husband of 42 years, David, Rhonda is survived by her daughter, Patricia Bethany Comstock (Adam) of Bloomsburg, PA; her son David Derrick Stubbs, Jr. (Erika) of Summerville; five grandchildren, Caroline and Baylor Comstock and David Derrick “Trace” III, Ella Kate, and Sullivan Stubbs; and two brothers, James Charles “Jimmy” Rhode, Jr. of Walterboro and Steve Clyde Rhode of LaGrange, GA.
A memorial service will be held at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 6, 2022, beginning at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends following the service in Sisk Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Buncombe St. Music and Arts, the Nurses Honor Guard of South Carolina, or the Prisma Health Cancer Institute.

God bless you all.
I am so sorry for your loss. Rhonda was a lovely woman.
RIP Sweet Lady.
