Ralph Richard Edwards Jr.
R. Richard Edwards Jr., 85, of Fountain Inn, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017.
Born June 30, 1932 in Fountain Inn, he was a son of the late Ralph Richard Edwards Sr. and the late Nancy Usher Edwards. He attended Presbyterian College where he played football and remained an avid sports enthusiast.
Mr. Edwards is survived by daughters Nancy Ann Yennie (John), Penney Slade (Arthur), and Gail Long (Charles); five grandchildren, Laura Lyle (Tim), Graham Yennie (Allison), Mary Paige Woodlief (Greg), and Elliott & Mary Elaine Slade; six great-grandchildren, Eva, Chapel and Hudson Lyle, Emma Yennie, and Ella & Carter Woodlief; and his sisters, Nancy Thomason, Martha West and Mary Smith.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Fountain Inn.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: Trinity United Methodist Church, 403 South Weston Street, Fountain Inn, SC 29644 or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Quillen Manor and of Kindred Hospice for the excellent care provided.
Dear Edwards Family: Please accept my condolences for the loss of your loved one. While words fail to capture the pain of losing Ralph, you can look forward to the time when words will fail to capture the joy of having God return Ralph to you as promised at Hosea 13:14 and John 6:40, where it says, “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone that recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day.”

Sincere sympathy to you in you loss. I always enjoyed talks and meals shared with him. He would nearly always have something interesting to say about our town, or someone from years gone by.

He was a great man, it was a such a blessing to help take care of him. He will be missed by many.I will be Praying for the family.
