Mary A. Duffy
Mary A. Duffy, 77, widow of Kenneth J. Duffy, of Simpsonville, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Born in Bayonne, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edward Wilson and the late Anna Mae Ormby Wilson.
In her early life, Mary was the winner of the Miss Bayonne Beauty Pageant and went on to compete in the Miss New Jersey Pageant. She was also a graduate of Barbizon Modeling School in New York City, and went on to model professionally, as well as teaching modeling and life lessons to young girls who were immediately drawn to her.
Mary had an incredible gift to make everyone she touched feel special. Whether it was a young lady she was teaching modeling to, or an elderly person she ran into in the grocery store; she had an amazing ability to read a situation and make people feel really good about themselves! Her true talent was her ability to do this in an incredibly sincere and genuine way.
In a note that she left behind, she wrote:
“Celebrate my life dear children. Rejoice with me. I’m happy now, you’ll be happy too.”
Mary is survived by her three children, Lauren English and her husband John of Simpsonville; Ken Duffy and Paul Duffy both of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Grace and Maryn; and her brother Edward Wilson of Florida.
A Private Memorial Service will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor Mary by doing what she did daily, in her words – “Bring at least one person joy every day!”
