Jean Futch Kirkland
Jean Futch Kirkland, 93, widow of Charles Denver Kirkland, of Simpsonville, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Born in Jeff Davis County, GA, she was the daughter of the late H. Elmo and Hazel Matthews Futch.
Jean is survived by three daughters, Deborah Siebert (Mike) of Jamestown, NC, Karen Borke (Jeff) of Simpsonville, and Joie Denhoff of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Linda, Jason, Mark, Marcia, Aspen, and Dakota; and nine great grandchildren, Anabel, Sarah, Kaitlyn, Sophie, Cara, Ryan, Patrick, Madison, and Eric.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Annet Kirkland; and her brother, Heavard Eschol Futch.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, 510 East Curtis Street, Simpsonville beginning at 2:00 pm.
A private inurnment will be held for the family.
My condolences to the family. I love and I’m going to miss Mrs. Kirkland. I meet her and Mr Kirkland when they came to The Springs at Simpsonville and they feel in love with my children at the time Elizabeth and Eli. One day I was working and I was attending their room Mrs Kirkland asked if her and her husband can they be my children adoptive grandparents. Of course I said yes!. I would bring my children to work and Mr and Mrs Kirkland would spoiled them with candy and fruit and enjoy their company. Later, she met Evan my youngest son, and he too called her Nana. Mrs Kirkland liked to get updates about my children. When I would bring them to visit she would brag to the other residents that they were her grandchildren as well and that “Eli gives her the best hugs”. She would tell me about her daughters and grandchildren. She was so proud of her grandchildren the sparkles in her eyes when she would talk about them and how smart each one of them are and their accomplishments.
I’m going to miss our talks and laughter together and most of all the encouraging words she gave me.I love you always Mrs Kirkland
