James Evans Lentz Sr.

James Evans Lentz, 62, of Simpsonville S.C., took flight to heaven on April 7th, 2022.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 Years, Sandy; their children, Jamie (Katy Lentz) and Taylor (Matthew Fessler); their grandchildren, James III, Harrison, and Skye Brielle.

He was the son of Mary Lou and Francis Lentz, the youngest brother to Ed, Steve and Mike Lentz.

Jim was born in Charlotte, NC. He studied at Appalachian State and became a brilliant IT Technician who was known and loved by many. He was a man of honor, pure love, and care. He undoubtedly touched every soul that crossed his path. An advisor; a healer.  He was passionate for his family and friends.  Many of his proudest moments involved those spent with his family. His presence was known the minute he entered a room, followed by instantaneous joy and laughter. He never met a stranger. He created and carried the legacy of those he held nearest and dearest, in the present and past.

Jim had many hobbies, passions, and interests. He took pride in gaining every ounce of knowledge as he fully indulged each new journey in life. He appreciated the small things.

Jim was a man of music and soul. His fingers often found his collection of many guitars, ears full of all genres, and a soothing singing voice to top it all off. He sang every note life presented him beautifully.

He wore his heart entirely on his sleeve. If there wasn’t a way, he always found one. His positive outlook and amazing sense of humor will remain through the memories shared, funnies made, and his love abounding.

We will forever adore and remember you – we will stand taller and stronger, knowing you are now watching over us – always believing.

The family has arranged a Celebration of Life to honor Jim for May 1st, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at Brewery 85, 6 Whitlee Ct, Greenville, SC  29607.

Condolences to the family of James Evans Lentz Sr.

    Sandy, Jamie and Taylor,
Oh how Jimmy will be missed! It is so hard to believe he is gone from us. He was the closest thing to a little brother that I ever had. I have known him since he was 9 years old and remember going to his football games and baseball games. He did not have a mean bone in his body, always so sweet and upbeat. He touched so many lives. I am sure he had absolutely no enemies because to know him was to love him. Adjusting to his absence will be difficult for all, but he left a wonderful legacy which all those who knew him will always remember.

Not sure I can make it on May 1 but will try. My thoughts and prayers are with all the Lentz family.

My prayers are with Jim’s family. I worked with Jim for a while and he was such a joy to work with, a great heart and would always lend a helping hand. Never did I see him that he wasn’t smiling or offering encouragement. He will be so very missed.

    Dear Jimmy’s family,
I knew Jimmy from junior high and high school. We graduated in 1979 together. We often sat beside each other because our names were close in the alphabet. He was such a good guy! I had a major crush on him during our friendship but the friendship was so much fun – we didn’t want to lose it. Loved those long waves of blonde hair and his friendly smile. He was a great friend and I wish I had met his great family. Sending you positive thoughts of healing and light.
    Peace. Marlene (Messenger) Allen

Dear Sandy, I want to extend my truly heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Just reading the news broke me up, and I can’t imagine how your world is shaken. I will treasure the most recent opportunities I had to spend time with you and Jim. I am deeply grateful for his reaching out to me about the birthday bash at Ken’s a couple years ago and then for you both to come and attend mine last year. Jimmy will be missed by many. We are lucky to have known such a good person. My love and prayers go out to you and your family. I’m planning to attend May 1. Much love, Joel Derby
