Gerald Joseph Kovacs

Gerald J. Kovacs, 76, of Simpsonville, husband of Charlene Kovacs for 39 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 13, 2016 while surrounded by his family.

Born August 3, 1939 in Detroit, MI he was a son of the late Joseph Kovacs and the late Mary Hajmas. Mr. Kovacs was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and actively involved in The Good News Club at Greenbrier Elementary School. Mr. Kovacs served our country in the United States Army. He worked for many years as a visual display specialist in the retail industry.

In addition to his wife, Charlene, he is survived by 14 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and nephews; 2 great great-nieces; and 1 great great-nephew.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Altizer Hall at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Graziano officiating.

The family will receive friends starting at 12:00 pm at the church.

Interment will be in MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive, Anderson, SC, 29621.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Gerald Kovacs and directed to Calvary Baptist Church for “The Good News Club.”
