Dorothy “Dot” Thompson

Dorothy “Dot” Thompson, 98 of Fountain Inn, widow of David H. Thompson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 19, 2025.  

A lifelong resident of Fountain Inn, Dot was the third child of ten born to Fred Spoone and Cora Weaver Spoone.

Mrs. Thompson, along with her husband David, was a charter member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she attended faithfully for more than fifty years and served in many capacities including, WMU Director, Sunday School teacher, VBS leader, and choir member, among others.

Dot retired after 27 years from Cryovac in Simpsonville. Her favorite hobby was working jigsaw puzzles, many of which she framed and displayed proudly in her home.

Dot will be remembered as a loving, kind, and generous mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She cared very deeply for all nine of her siblings and enjoyed spending time with them including vacations, monthly meals to celebrate birthdays, and annual trips to the mountains to pick apples.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a daughter Pam Soria, a grandson Toby Thackston, five sisters, and two brothers.

She is survived by a son Michael Thompson, Sr (Martha), a daughter Sheron Fraylick, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are her two devoted sisters, Loretta Woods and Brenda Knight.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. Interment will follow in Cannon Byrd Memorial Park.

    Bill and I always enjoyed talking with Mrs. Dot. Her and Mr David were great people who helped a lot of folks. I can picture them in heaven together.
