Raymond Talley Stone

Raymond Talley Stone, age 81, husband of Carolyn Godsey Stone, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016.

Born in Taylors, he was a son of the late Ansel Martin and Geraldine Moon Stone. A graduate of Furman University, Mr. Stone was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Cryovac following over 25 years of service. He was a faithful member of Holly Ridge Baptist Church and served his church in many capacities. Mr. Stone loved gardening on his farm and was a member of the Piedmont Beekeeper’s Association. He was an avid runner and held several state records. Mr. Stone was a quiet person who did many acts of service without wanting recognition. He was a selfless man who put others before himself. He was the definition of the word Christian. His wife and children loved him dearly and considered him to be the greatest husband and father who ever lived.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mr. Stone is survived by a daughter, Nancy Stone Iraheta and husband William; a son, Barry Stone; four grandchildren, Sarah, Noah, Rachel, and Hannah; five brothers and sisters, Harold Stone, Martha Henderson, Ralph Stone, Roy Stone, and Jeanette Brockman, and their families.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Cannon Funeral Home Chapel with entombment to following Cannon Memorial Park.
