William Henry Moore

William Henry Moore of Simpsonville, SC, passed into the arms of his precious Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 89.

Bill, as he was known, was born in McKeesport, PA, on March 25, 1932, to father William Henry Moore and mother Mary Elliott Clark Moore. The oldest of five sons and one daughter, Bill attended McKeesport High School and worked his way through college, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) in Pittsburgh, PA.

Shortly thereafter, Bill married his loving wife, Betty, on September 10, 1955, in Detroit, MI, where they settled and went on to raise one son and three daughters. Bill’s career in electrical engineering led him to positions in Michigan, Indiana, and Virginia, working as a Director for Bendix Corporation, and finally branching out on his own to become an independent recruiting consultant for various engineering firms, before finally retiring to Simpsonville, SC.

Bill was raised in a Christian home, and the most momentous event of Bill’s life was accepting Jesus as his personal savior at the age of 14. He walked faithfully with the Lord his entire adult life, serving in various capacities as an elder, deacon, Sunday school superintendent and adult Sunday school teacher in each of the fellowships of believers he was involved in.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Donald Moore, Stanley Moore and Ernest Moore. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Moore; children Judy (Steve) Hattersley, Donald (Debbie) Moore, Janet (Mike) Pindak, and Patty (Ken) Richardson; daughter-in-law Sabine James; sister Arlene (Paul) Robinson; brother Jim (Cindy) Moore; grandchildren Jennifer (Micah) Nemec, Michelle Hattersley, Chris Moore, Samantha Moore, Kaitlyn Pindak, Drew (Jess) Pindak, Daniel Pindak, Noah Pindak, Grace Richardson, John Richardson, Scott Richardson, and Seth Richardson.

The funeral will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Holly Ridge Baptist Church, 260 Adams Mill Road, Simpsonville, SC, 29681. Visitation will be immediately following the service. The Graveside Service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC, 29681. All are welcome to attend both services.

Memorial donations may be made to Holly Ridge Building Fund, c/o Holly Ridge Baptist Church, 260 Adams Mill Road, Simpsonville, SC, 29681.

Dear Mrs. Moore, Judy, and families. It was an honor meeting your wonderful, sweet husband and Dad! We know the heartbreak of losing a Dad … a parent. We know we are “ready”, but we are not. There is no remedy for grief, but it is a great comfort to know our loved ones are in Heaven with no pain or sorrow. Only people who are capable of loving strongly also suffer great sorrow, but this same necessity of loving serves to counteract your grief and heals you! Lovingly, The Hrivnaks

  • Mrs Moore, Judy, Janet and family. It was our pleasure to have met your father the years Janet lived in Greenville. Fond memories were shared at the dining table. God Bless you all. Brent and Judy Pennington

It was with heavy heart when I heard the news that my friend Bill had passed on from this earthy home to his new heavenly home. Bill would sometime teach our Sunday School class. and would always have some sort of display, to help make his point. (we, Barbara and I) both enjoyed it. “Miss Betty” and family, I send my sympathy to each of you in this sad time in you life. However, the joy of knowing that he is more alive now than he has ever been, will somehow give you peace in your heart. May God make smooth the path before you in the days and months ahead. Your friend in Christ’, RIP my friend.
