Marilyn S. Steen
Marilyn Stoddard Steen, 76, of Gray Court, SC, widow of Fred W. Steen, Jr., passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Born in Laurens, SC, she was a daughter of the late Shaw and Sara Stoddard.
Marilyn was genuine, down-to-earth, and fun. She loved all her nieces and nephews, as if they were her own children and they loved her-pulling her onto the dance floor to dance at her nieces wedding.
She was kind and generous, always there for her sister, Nancy, when she needed her. She loved her brother, Richard, always stopping by to visit when she was in Greenville. She never met a stranger, always smiling and waving as they went by. She was loved by all her family and many friends who will miss her presence. Rest in peace, sweet Marilyn.
Marilyn is survived by two siblings, Nancy Culbertson and Richard Stoddard (Marianne); four nieces and nephews, Wanda Kelley (Mark), Joseph Stoddard, Deanne Rogers, and Daniel Rogers; and four great nieces and nephews, Alexis Carter, Grant Kelley, Brett Kelley, and Suzanna Vaughan.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Wanda Stoddard; a niece, Starla Hibbard; and brother-in-law, Gary Culbertson.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday February 8, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Owings Methodist Church; 4766 N Old Laurens Rd, Gray Court, SC 29645. The family will receive friends starting at 2:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Owings Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mike and I are so sorry on the passing of Marilyn. We’re keeping y’all in our thoughts and prayers.
Marilyn was a true friend one day you were here the next you were gone.I miss you more than words can say.
Love you my friend
Best Friend Forever! I am heartbroken, but I’m so thankful for a great, loyal, loving, sweet friendship that has spanned over 55 years. We had the best times along the way- sightseeing in DC, checking out Disney World, visiting Plains, Ga and watching President Carter shake hands outside his church, rooming together when we were young, spending a summer working as waitresses at Jekyll Island, saving our tip money to go with our friends to Freeport, Bahamas. You were genuine and unapologetically a proud country girl. You loved your family and friends so much. I know how you have missed your husband and niece but you are with them now. You are healed from this past year’s horrible struggle with your health. Although we all here on Earth are sad without you, we are grateful you are resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Rest in Peace, cute Marilyn! I will never forget you and will always know you were the best friend I could ever be so fortunate to have. We all miss and love you! ❤️ Jennie
Richard and Marianne,
Marilyn was a sweetie. We always enjoyed talking with her when we would see her at your house. Always a smile. She is going to be missed.
Wonder what Mama Sara said to her as she entered heaven? 🙂

Gonna miss Marilyn. Never once heard her say an unkind word. May the Lord bring comfort to the family.
