Rev. Carl D. Neal

Rev. Carl D. Neal, age 89, widower of the late Elizabeth May Jones Neal, went to receive his Heavenly reward on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.

Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late George Irby and Lillie Mae Coleman Neal. Rev. Neal was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran, a retired Minister of the Pentecostal faith, and a member of Hickory Tavern Church of God.

Rev. Neal is survived by two daughters, Sandra Matthewson and Alice Wellams; eight sons, Carl A. Neal, Stephen Neal, Robert Neal, Lester Neal, Walter Neal, George Neal, John Neal, and James Neal; 30 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Neal; and a sister, Juanita Henderson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Martin; two sisters, Mildred Smith and Geneva Hammond; and two brothers, John C. Neal and Thomas Neal.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hickory Tavern Church of God conducted by Rev. Chad Jordan with burial to follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Cannon Funeral Home.
