Malcolm Eugene Gambrell

Malcolm Eugene Gambrell, 88, husband of Pauline Hendrix Gambrell for 66 years, was welcomed into his Savior’s arms on Friday, September 29, 2023.  Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Robert Spears and Ruth Lancaster Gambrell.

After 12 years of service in the U.S. Navy, Malcolm graduated from Greenville Technical College with an associate degree in electronics and retired from Cryovac, a division of W.R. Grace, after 28 years.  Malcolm loved working in the yard and enjoyed woodworking.  He was a member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville where he loved to hand out peppermints to everyone.  He never met a stranger and loved to help others.  Malcolm’s favorite verse of scripture was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

In addition to his wife, Malcolm is survived by two daughters, Sheila (Clif) and Rita (Danny); and one son, Terry (Betty Ann); eight grandchildren, Joshua (Nikki), Justin (Michelle), Jonathan, Nathan, Keenan (Marissa), Kaitlyn (Daniel), Lauren, and Matt (Jennifer); twelve great grandchildren, Leilah, Lana, Thomas, Lily, Hunter, Fisher, Charlotte Grace, Baby Gambrell, Carter, Avery, and Easton; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Drake and Bobbie Sullivan.

The family will visit with friends and family on Monday, October 2, 2023, at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home, 313 N. Main St., Simpsonville, SC 29681 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home, Simpsonville beginning at 9:30 am.  A private burial will be held for the family following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 123 West Antrim Drive, Greenville, SC  29607 or Wren Hospice, 955 W Wade Hampton Blvd #3a, Greer, SC 29650.

    I am gonna miss you Malcolm. My heart goes out to Pauline, Sheila, Cliff, Joshua and his family and Justin and his family, Rita and her boys and Terry and Betty Anne and their Family. I love you all and if I could I would be there with you.
