Joe Decatur Carlton, 84 years old, resident of Daytona Beach, Florida, left to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 after a battle with cancer.

He was born and grew up in Simpsonville, SC by his parents Casper Decatur Carlton and Josephine Stewart Carlton whom both proceeded him in death. He joined the US Air Force in 1953 at the age of 19. He was stationed in various places and lastly found himself at Eglin Air Force base in Florida’s panhandle. It was in the small town of Crestview, Florida that he met his future bride, Sarah Charlotte Simmons. They were married in January of 1957 and eventually found themselves back in Greenville County. Sarah passed in August of 1985.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Carlton Pioth and son Randall Joe Carlton, both of Port Orange FL; grandsons Robert Andrew Pioth, Jr of Port Orange FL, Christopher Thomas Pioth of Baltimore MD, and Jason Randall Carlton Humphrey of Utah; a granddaughter, Melissa Brown of Greer SC; and a sister, Marion Faye Carlton Alexander of Greenville, SC.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Cannon Funeral Home in Fountain Inn.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
