Frances S. Coleman

Frances Stoddard Coleman, age 97, died Monday, May 29, 2023. She was born in Owings, SC to the late Theresa Darby and Fred Stewart Stoddard and was the widow of Broadus Steedley Coleman.

She graduated from Gray Court Owings High School and Perry’s Business School. After marriage she became a member of Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church where she was President of Women of the Church, Circle Leader, President of Ruth Curry Sunday School class, and a choir member. She was also the assistant teacher of the Church kindergarten for four years.

She was currently a charter member of the Presbyterian Fellowship of Fountain Inn, a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary, and a member of the Gray Court Owings Historical Society.

She is survived by two sons, Sam Coleman, John Coleman and wife Alice; two grandchildren, Natalie Smith and husband Barry, Jason McGinnis and wife Tally; five great grandchildren, Owen and Justin Smith, Ambar, Yohann, and Darien Aguilar. Also, brothers, Ray Stoddard (Joan), Carl Stoddard, and Jerry Stoddard.

She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Mauldin; brothers, Bill Stoddard and Shaw Stoddard; daughter in law, Becky Coleman, and a great granddaughter, Amber McGinnis.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home Chapel in Fountain Inn. Interment will follow the service at Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Fellowship in Fountain Inn, or Owings Presbyterian Church.
