Connie D. Hughes

Connie Delores Hughes, 81, of Fountain Inn, SC, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024. Born in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Charles Whiten Sr. and Dorothy Johnson.

Connie completed her high school education at GTC in 1976. She proceeded to obtain her machine tool operator certification in 1980. She worked in the manufacturing business for 25 years.

Connie loved her family and spent the majority of her time watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. She loved sitting at her kitchen table reading books and watching birds. Connie will be immensely missed by all.

Connie is survived by her children, Donna Redd and Ricky Vickery (Sheila); grandchildren, Jason Vickery (Nikki), Josh Brooks (Alisha), Melissa Breazeale (Jeff), Jamie Imhoff, Jeremy Imhoff, and Jenna Brooks (Benji); great grandchildren, DJ, Kayleigh, Alaina, Ryan, Isabella, Connor, Kylie, Maci, Chloe, and Jamison; and siblings, Vicky Parks (Larry), Mark Strickland (Debbie) and family, Chuck Whiten (Carla), Pam Cloonan, Dianne Burton , and Brenda Jenkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Theo Johnson; daughter, Cheryl Boggs; granddaughter, Kayla Boggs; grandson, Jeremy Vickery; great grandson, Michael Vickery; brother, Phil Whiten; and aunt, Hazel Stowers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home in Fountain Inn, SC. Entombment will be private for the family.

Thank you to all of the friends that have become family that adopted “Granny” as their own. She loved you all like her own also.
