Charles Patrick Wuhrman

Charles Patrick Wuhrman, 72, of Simpsonville, known by his family and friends as “Pat,” passed away at home on July 11th, 2022.

Pat was born in Englewood, NJ to the late Charles Matthew and Gladys Marie Smith Wuhrman.  He grew up between Southern California and England and graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in Journalism and Communications.

Pat began his career with Fluor in International Human Resources.  Taking a break for 10 years throughout the 1980’s, he lived and worked in the Middle East as a consultant to several foreign countries.  He then returned  to Fluor, eventually based in Greenville where he retired as Human Resources Director II after 35 years service.

In addition to his wife, Maureen Davis Wuhrman, Pat is survived by two sons Matthew and daughter-in-law, Meredith Blake Wuhrman (Oklahoma); and Michael and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Alden Wuhrman (South Carolina); grandchildren Camilla, Eleanor, Teddy and Evie.  Also surviving are sister Lynda Thompson (Heidelberg, Germany) and brother William Wuhrman and wife, Lucinda Stude (Pennsylvania).

Pat will be remembered lovingly as a husband and father always putting family first.  His dry sense of humor, wit, love of history and ability to retain and share a broad range of little known facts was always appreciated in conversation among family and friends.  His passion was  fishing and boating which he loved sharing with his family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

I am so sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. I was Pat’s admin 2004-2007 and enjoyed every minute. He had the best sense of humor and EXTENSIVE vocabulary. 😊 We used to joke about needing a dictionary to decipher what he was saying. I will be sending many Prayers to the entire family and hope that thinking of Pat and how much he loved his family, will bring smiles and happy memories to you all. Claire Orr

I worked with Pat for several years while stationed as head of HR in Iraq and Kuwait. I could always count on him for sage advice on how to handle delicate situations. His sense of humor, humility and diamond sharp intelligence made him a joy to work with. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Linda looked up some of the friends we met when serving in Greece. Pat and Maureen lived on our street in Kifissia, north of Athens. Pat was welcoming and always had something humorous to share. I was training for the Marathon and Pat invited me to join him on the weekly run with the Hash House Harriers. He neglected to mention that there is lots more to the Harriers than running. We never missed a run.

As an example of Pat’s humor, on our last day in Greece, with the moving company loading up our belongings, Pat paraded in front of our place with a sign saying something like “AMERICANS GO HOME!”. We knew that we were loved.

    Pat left far too soon.
