Carolyn Sue Alford

Carolyn Sue Alford, 80, of Fountain Inn, SC, wife of Darrell W. Alford, went home to Jesus on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, after a brief illness.

Born in St. Albans, West Virgina, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Inez Blanche Stephens.  She met and married her husband of 59 years, Darrell, and they lived and raised their family in several states and finally settled in SC in the early 1990s. She worked and retired from the Greenville Hospital System where she met some lifelong friends. Carolyn loved to travel especially to Holden Beach which is a family favorite.  She had the most amazing green thumb and could bring any plant back to life. Carolyn also played a great game of poker and often won against all those that played against her. Carolyn loved spending time with family, especially Christmas where she would bake cookies for hours with the kids.

In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by four children, Steve (Mary) Alford, Debbie (Johnn) Cox, Missy (Ted) Taylor and Teresa (Fred) Collins; ten grandchildren, Megan (Harrison) Kalista, Steven Alford II, Chase (Chrissa) Cox, Haden Cox, Ashton Cox, Austin (Rachel) Taylor, Brett Taylor, Cameron Collins, Carson Collins and Cooper Collins; and finally, three great grandchildren, Caidynce, Clayton and Ezra.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John F. (Steve) Stephens Jr; an infant son, Phillip Alford; and a infant granddaughter, Christina Alford.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later for family and close friends.
