Brian DeWayne Hickingbottom

Brian D. Hickingbottom, 52, of Simpsonville, husband of Lisa Ann Jenkins Hickingbottom passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Born in Shreveport, LA, he was a son of the late James & Elaine Hickingbottom, Sr. Mr. Hickingbottom proudly served our country as and in the United States Marine Corps.

In addition to his wife, Lisa, he is survived by three children, Brittany Berio (Ryan Brown), Brandon Berio, and Briana Heil (Austin); six grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler, Colt, Autumn, Mason, and Hadleigh; and one brother, James Hickingbottom, Jr. (Angie).

To know my dad was to know true selflessness. He was a man with a heart so big that its warmth extended to everyone he met. He would routinely go without just to ensure someone else had what they needed. His love for children knew no boundaries—any child who crossed his path was instantly welcomed, protected, and treated as one of his own. He was, without a doubt, the most loved person in the family, serving as the steady anchor everyone could rely on.

His world revolved entirely around his family. My Dad found his soulmate in my mom. Their love was the foundation of his life, and his devotion to her and his children was unmatched. No matter what challenges life presented, he was a beacon of optimism. He never looked at the downside of a situation, always had a positive word to offer, and never spoke out of character. He carried himself with a quiet dignity and grace that inspired everyone around him.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the Cannon Byrd Funeral Home – Simpsonville Chapel, 313 N. Main St., Simpsonville with VFW State Chaplain Wilton Fowler officiating.

The family will receive friends starting at 5:00 pm.

Interment with military honors being provided by the United States Marine Corps. will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 2:00 pm in MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Dr., Anderson, SC 29621.

    To Lisa and the Family,
Brian had a gift that’s rarer than people realize — he could make you feel genuinely seen, even on an ordinary Tuesday at work. That warmth wasn’t something he turned on. It was just him. And I’ll always remember him finding any excuse to talk about LSU football — win or lose, he never ran out of things to say.
The world is a little quieter without him in it, and I know the quiet in your house must be deafening right now. I want you to know I’m thinking of you — not just today, but in all the ordinary days ahead that will carry his absence.
He was lucky to be so deeply loved. And you were lucky to be the one he loved most.
    With so much sympathy,
    Trudy
