Alexander Finlay III

Alexander Finlay III, 88, of Mauldin, husband of Norma Mullinax Finlay for 65 years, came to the end of life’s journey on Friday, October 15, 2021 and was greeted by many loved ones that have gone before him.

Born in Greenville, he was the oldest son of the late Alexander and Lannie Thompson Finlay, Jr. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Mauldin. Mr. Finley graduated from The Georgia Military Academy and served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was member of the Masonic Empire Lodge 213 in Mauldin, and a Hejaz Shriner. He loved the time that he was able to spend with his family enjoying sunsets and boating while at their summer home on Lake Greenwood. Mr. Finlay was a loyal employee of Bi-Lo for 25 years serving as Manager of the Simpsonville location most of that time.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Alexander “Sandy” Finlay IV and his wife, Sharon, of Simpsonville; grandchildren, Alexander Finlay V and his wife, Rebecca, of Asheville, and Jordan Finlay and his wife, Kellyn, of Simpsonville; great-grandchildren, Jonah, Russell, and Davis Finlay; sisters-in-law, Adrith Thayer, Sarah Rowe, and Susan Finlay; a very special nephew, Joey Finlay; and several other nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Finlay and Abe Finlay.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care the staff at both Rolling Green and Prisma Hospital GHS provided.

Private services will be held for the family. Entombment will be in Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
