Melvin Eugene Raines, 69, of Fountain Inn, SC, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Harold M. and Grace Tucker Raines.

Melvin had retired from Walker and Whiteside after 30 years. Melvin loved his family, he enjoyed being outdoors, being at the lake and going to the races. He loved spending time with his buddies in his mancave.

Melvin is survived by his loving partner, Margaret (Libby) Nichols; three children, Chris Raines, Corey Raines, and Jeana Patterson; eleven grandchildren ; nine great grandchildren; a niece, Sonya Langley; a nephew, Ryan Tate; three stepchildren, Kelli Nichols, Eli Butler (Renee), and Andrea Sharpe; and two step-grandchildren, Adrian and Doodle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy Dudley; and his stepson, Robert Nichols.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Cannon-Byrd Funeral Home- Simpsonville; 313 N. Main St, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
