Sara Dell Westmoreland Patton
Sara Dell Westmoreland Patton, age 94, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020.
Born April 12, 1925, Sara Dell was the daughter of the late Edwin Toy and Susan Elizabeth Westmoreland.
She was born in the small community of Crescent, located in Spartanburg County, SC. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood, and treasured the relationship she had with her sister, the late Juanita Westmoreland Cook. They were inseparable. Sara Dell went to college at Anderson Junior College, where she became President of the student body. After graduating from Anderson Junior College, she attended Erskine College and graduated with a degree in Education. She taught school in the public school system for a number of years, and later taught kindergarten at the First Baptist Church in Fountain Inn. Sara Dell was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Above all, she was a devout Christian, and shared her faith in Christ with anyone who would listen. She believed that sharing the gospel was her duty and a true blessing. She is in heaven now, talking with Jesus, and having a wonderful reunion with all of her family and friends that passed on before her.
Surviving are her sons William Patrick Patton and Paul Ernest Patton, daughter-in-law Jo Ann Trammell Patton, granddaughter Ashley Ann Patton Bratton and her husband James Rufus Bratton III, and great grandsons Sims Rufus Bratton and William Everett Bratton. Sara Dell would also want us to mention Izzie, Pat and Jo Ann’s sweet little Chihuahua. Izzie was able to make her smile every time she visited, even during the past year or so, when her health was declining. Sara Dell was preceded in death by her husband, William Avery Patton, and a host of other family members.
The family would like to give special thanks to Heritage Home, Pee Dee Gardens, and Regency Hospice, all located in Florence, SC. The staff at these facilities provided her with excellent care, and we are forever grateful.
Due to precautions regarding the Coronavirus, the immediate family will hold a graveside service Saturday, March 28, in Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fountain Inn First Baptist Church Building Fund, 206 N. Weston Street, Fountain Inn, SC 29644. Sara Dell’s family understands that during this time, you may not be able to visit with them. Please keep Sara Dell’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

Paul – I was so very sorry to hear of your mother’s passing, but know she was welcomed with open arms in heaven. My heart hurts for you.
We are so sad to learn of the passing of Mrs. Sara Dell! She was a wonderful lady, a true prayer warrior! She will be missed but what a comfort to know she is in Heaven with Jesus!
Paul and family, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Miss Sara.. She was truly a prayer warrior. Your Mother and my Mother, (Estelena Bouchillon) were such good friends. My cat went blind at one point and I asked Mama to get with your Mom and pray for him. They did just that and you know, he got his sight back after the vets said he would never see again. I shall always hold a special place in my heart for Miss Sara. God bless all of you.
Dear Paul and Family, Thinking about you today and remembering what a sweet and precious Mother you had. Glad to have known her. Love and Blessings to all of you.
Pat, JoAnn and family, our prayers are with you all. 🙏🙏Your Mother lived a long Christ focused life. She is fortunate to have you as her family. Sincerely, Pamela

I never got to meet Mrs. Sara Patton but she give birth to one of my closest friend Pat Patton. Our hearts goes out to family of Mrs. Sara Patton.🙏💒❤
Hearing of Sara Dell’s passing on brings mixed emotions…Joy that she’s Home now and sadness for all who were touched by her life. Her den was a sanctuary for me from 1985 to 2005 (when I left Ft. Inn for WV). Her godly counsel and friendship were vital in that ”season” of my life!
Her devotion as a mom, grandmom (I didn’t know she was a great-grandmom) and sister-in Christ was a witness to me.
Paul, Pat, Jo Ann, Ashley and your family, I know all of your memories are sweet. Praying for you God’s supernatural peace!
