Rose Marie Wilson Turner
Rose Marie Wilson Turner (Marie) passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. She was born in 1926 in Griffin, Georgia, the third of four children born to Dr. Faris Holmes Wilson and Jane Floyd Wilson. She spent her childhood in Griffin and went on to graduate from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Faris Wilson, and her sister, Jane Wilson Russell. She is survived by one sister, Day Wilson Watson.
Marie Turner also is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Thomas Jenkins Turner, who passed away in 2016. She is survived by her four children, Deborah Little (John), Thomas Turner, Jr. (Kris), Jane Turner, and David Turner (Barbara), along with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Marie was a loving and well loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her Christian faith guided her life and her devotion extended to all members of her large extended family and to a life-time collection of friends, neighbors, and church family members. The majority of her adult life was spent in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Arkadelphia, Arkansas; and Mars Hill, North Carolina. She also lived for one year each in Belgium and China, where her husband spent two sabbatical years. Always active, Marie was an avid tennis player, walker, bridge player, and volunteer. She spent the last years of her life at the Woodlands, a senior living facility in Greenville, South Carolina, until her death at the age of 97, on May 22, 2024.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service for family members will be held at a later date.
