Richard Stephen Hietikko

Richard S. Hietikko, 76, of Simpsonville, widower of Sonja Hietikko passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 while at home surrounded by family.

Born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, he was the son of the late Eino & Francis Kellis Hietikko.

Mr. Hietikko is survived by his children, Holly Hietikko, Colleen Wryobeck (Richard), and Randy Hietikko; grandchildren, Cory Pavle (Alexis), Collin Pavle, and Courtney Hietikko; and one great-grandson, Jonathan Slone.

In addition to his wife, Sonja, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Altomare, and Carole Bergerson.   

Richard โ€œRickโ€ was very talented as a carpenter throughout his life, he built many homes for his occupation and also built displays for auto shows nationally.  In addition, he crafted specialty items for their successful craft business.  He retired early and loved making his hand lathed snowmen out of cedar logs.  His favorite sport was hockey and enjoyed watching the games with his son Randy.

Richards favorite pastime was playing cards and 500 Rummy was his game of choice. He enjoyed playing Rummy with his family very much!  He lived to make jokes and laugh and will be missed beyond measure.  

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Cannon Byrd Funeral Home Chapel, 1150 N. Main St., Fountain Inn. Interment will follow in Cannon Byrd Memorial Park.
