Norbert O. “Doc” Preston

Norbert O. “Doc” Preston, age 97, of Mt. Pleasant, SC widower of Dorothy Preston, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late George and Marie Petunya. He retired from Reynolds Aluminum, was a member of St. Elizabeth Anne Seaton Catholic Church, and was in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was extremely creative, loved nature, singing, and was an avid antique collector.

Mr. Preston is survived by four children, Sue Edwards and husband Charles, Mike Preston and wife Nancy, Margaret Roberts (husband Hoppy deceased), Mary Preston King and husband Dave; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Bernadine Toth. He was predeceased by two children, Kathy Petunya and Beth Turk (husband Tony); and his cat, Cali.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 am at Cannon Funeral Home, 1150 North Main Street, Fountain Inn, conducted by Rev. Terry Ferrell with burial in Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Mr. Preston’s life will be held in Charleston at a later date.
